We are seeking a freelance Policy Analyst to support our government strategy and research services division. This is a fully remote position — you may work from anywhere, provided you can align working hours with the Malaysia time zone (GMT+8). The ideal candidate will analyze public policy developments, regulatory changes, and industry trends — particularly in trade, technology, and economic development sectors — to provide timely, evidence-based insights for our clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor and analyze policy developments across ASEAN and global markets
• Prepare policy briefs, research reports, and executive summaries for clients
• Conduct stakeholder engagement with government bodies, industry associations, and academic institutions
• Evaluate the impact of regulatory changes on trade, investment, and technology sectors
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on client advisory projects
• Maintain a database of policy developments and regulatory updates
• Participate in virtual meetings and maintain close collaboration with distributed teams via digital platforms

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, International Relations, or related field
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in policy research, government advisory, or think tank environment
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage
• Familiarity with ASEAN policy landscape and trade frameworks (e.g., CPTPP, RCEP, ASEAN Economic Community)

SKILLS:

• Policy analysis and regulatory research
• Data interpretation and report writing
• Stakeholder mapping and engagement
• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with policy research tools is a plus
• Project management and deadline-oriented work style
