Job Description
We are seeking the potential to join our Global Operations (GO) team. The role entails high-frequency engagements with senior management, and working-level team members, therefore, offers a great opportunity for candidates to gain knowledge and perspective of business at multiple levels.
As a Materials Engineer, the individual will be representing GO team; in handling, sourcing, qualifying and purchasing components; and collaborating with NPI Engineering, Procurement and Production Engineering team on operational, strategic and quality.
Job responsibilities:
Supplier Management
- Manage assigned commodities and suppliers to meet organization’s objectives related to quality, cost, delivery performance and schedule.
- Perform regular performance review and collaborate with suppliers on value enhancement opportunities to drive continuous improvements.
- Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and manufacturing to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
- Develop long-term supplier relationships and implement global procurement strategies.
Material Cost Reduction
- Drive cost reduction initiatives to meet targets.
- Aid Manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined Resourcing process.
- Explore new cost reduction opportunities through Value-engineering.
NPI Support
- Consult with engineering/R&D personnel to establish performance criteria and specifications for suppliers. Communicate manufacturing specifications to suppliers.
- Source and investigate potential suppliers and recommend suitable ones for NPI projects or existing products.
- Perform RFQ and total cost analysis. Negotiate with suppliers on lead-time, cost, and quality to obtain the maximum benefit for the company.
Compliance Role:
- Stay updated on evolving Global Compliance Standards.
- Work with Agilent teams (EDM & GSCS) on ensuring all new and existing material part numbers (MPNs) have up to date Materials of Concern (MoC) compliance data.
- Coordinate with other on-site Compliance Engineer to drive product line specific activities.
- Collaborate with R&D to ensure LLMs used in NPIs meets regulatory compliance.
- Work with material suppliers to gather latest product compliance information
- Work with Materials Engineers to resource non-compliant LLMs.
- Update Global Compliance Steering Committee on progress of new standard implementations.
- Communicate regulatory risks, options, and recommendations to site and global regulatory leadership.
- Escalating issues with well-reasoned analysis and proposed mitigation strategies.
- Understand of regulatory framework.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
- 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical & electro-mechanical or electrical parts procurement engineering environment, supplier quality management, and/or product engineering, manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in sourcing, procurement, process engineering or supplier quality management in an MNC manufacturing environment.
- Experienced in mechanical & electrical parts manufacturing/fabrication processes or std. design specification with good analytical skills on DFx. Must be proficient in technical drawing (2d & 3d mechanical drawings) interpretation, understand BOMs.
- Exposed to global developments of REACH, RoHS, PFAS and TSCA 6.
- Familiar with SAP EHSM will be an added advantage
- Strong analytical, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, actionable guidance.
