COBOL Developer

Job Summary

One of our key clients is seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to design, develop, maintain, and support mission-critical mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in COBOL development, mainframe technologies, and enterprise banking systems, with the ability to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based mainframe applications.
• Develop and support batch processing, online transactions, and system enhancements.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely application support.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Optimize application performance, batch jobs, and system processes.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and development standards.
• Collaborate with business users, project teams, testers, and infrastructure teams to deliver successful project outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in COBOL/Mainframe application development.
• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, and VSAM.
• Experience in mainframe application development, maintenance, and production support.
• Knowledge of batch processing, online transaction systems, and system integration.
• Experience working in banking, financial services, or other enterprise environments is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
