1. Electrical Operation & Maintenance
- Operate and monitor all electrical systems to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment.
- Inspect electrical installations, switchboards, MCCs, transformers, motors, lighting systems, and distribution panels.
- Troubleshoot and rectify electrical faults to minimise production downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of electrical equipment.
- Ensure all electrical systems are operating within safe limits.
2. Plant Operations Support
- Provide electrical support during daily production activities.
- Attend to emergency electrical breakdowns and restore equipment promptly.
- Assist during plant shutdown, start-up, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate maintenance work with Production, Mechanical, and Instrumentation teams.
3. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements.
- Perform electrical isolation using Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures before maintenance work.
- Identify electrical hazards and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure the workplace complies with company safety policies and statutory requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, emergency response drills, and incident investigations.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and breakdowns.
- Prepare maintenance reports and equipment history records.
- Report electrical abnormalities and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed and filed properly.
5. Continuous Improvement
- Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and energy efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
- Assist in implementing engineering projects and plant improvement activities.
The BO Chargeman is authorised to:
- Perform electrical maintenance within the scope of the BO Chargeman Certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
- Isolate electrical equipment for maintenance purposes following approved procedures.
- Stop unsafe electrical work that may pose risks to personnel or equipment.
- Recommend repairs or replacement of defective electrical equipment.
Job Requirements
Education
- Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Certification
- Valid BO Chargeman Certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST).
- Registered as a Competent Person with Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years working experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or refinery environment is preferred.
- Fresh BO Chargeman certificate holders are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge
- Electricity Supply Act 1990 and Electricity Regulations 1994.
- Industrial electrical systems and distribution.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Electrical troubleshooting techniques.
- Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Occupational safety and health practices.
Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per hour
