Job Purpose
To supervise the daily operations of the Engineering Department, ensuring that all building systems, facilities, equipment, and guest-related services are maintained in a safe, efficient, and reliable condition. The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, leading the engineering team, and supporting the smooth operation of the property to enhance guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Engineering team, ensuring efficient allocation of manpower and resources.
- Plan, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programmes and repair & maintenance (R&M) activities for all hotel facilities and equipment.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, ventilation, sound systems, and ELV services.
- Monitor the maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and external property areas to ensure high operational standards.
- Supervise building maintenance works such as painting, carpentry, masonry, glazing, flooring, ceiling repairs, furniture maintenance, and minor structural works.
- Prepare maintenance schedules, material requisitions, technical specifications, and cost estimates for repair, replacement, and installation projects.
- Monitor chilled water and cooling water systems, including water treatment programmes, corrosion control measures, and equipment replacement planning.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of swimming pools, recreational facilities, pumps, filtration systems, and water treatment equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance requests, work orders, incident reports, and engineering projects are completed accurately and within established timelines.
- Conduct routine inspections of engineering equipment, systems, and facilities to ensure operational readiness and compliance with safety standards.
- Monitor utility consumption including electricity, water, and gas, and recommend initiatives to improve energy efficiency and cost control.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, service logs, maintenance reports, and equipment histories.
- Prepare staff duty rosters, monitor attendance, and ensure team members comply with company policies, SOPs, and workplace safety requirements.
- Coordinate and liaise with contractors, suppliers, and service providers for specialized maintenance, servicing, and improvement projects.
- Assist in emergency response situations, equipment breakdowns, and operational disruptions to minimize downtime and ensure guest comfort.
- Support departmental training and development initiatives to enhance the technical competency of engineering team members.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of engineering or facilities maintenance experience within a hotel, serviced residence, resort, or hospitality environment, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of hotel engineering operations, including guest room maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building services systems.
- Experience in supervising maintenance personnel and coordinating daily engineering operations within a hospitality setting.
- Good understanding of preventive maintenance systems, energy management practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and respond to operational emergencies when required.

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
