The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation, administration, operation, and continuous improvement of data center network infrastructure. The role focuses on ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of network services while supporting infrastructure projects and collaborating with internal stakeholders, technology partners, and service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations
- Operate, administer, and support data center network infrastructure to ensure high availability and service reliability.
- Perform proactive monitoring, preventive maintenance, and performance optimization of network services.
- Participate in planned maintenance, change implementation, and on-call support when required.
Network Implementation
- Implement, configure, and maintain network infrastructure and related services.
- Support infrastructure expansion, migration, technology refresh, and network enhancement initiatives.
- Ensure all network changes are implemented in accordance with established standards and change management processes.
Incident & Problem Management
- Diagnose and resolve network incidents within agreed service levels.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify performance bottlenecks, operational risks, and opportunities for service improvement.
Network Security & Compliance
- Support the administration of network security solutions and ensure compliance with organizational security policies and standards.
- Participate in vulnerability remediation and infrastructure hardening activities.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, technology vendors, and service providers to deliver infrastructure projects and operational excellence.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in data center network implementation, administration, operations, and support.
- Experience supporting mission-critical data center network environments.
- Experience delivering network implementation, migration, infrastructure upgrade, or technology refresh projects.
Technical Competencies
Network Infrastructure
- Strong understanding of data center networking principles, architecture, and operational best practices.
- Hands-on experience in implementing, administering, and supporting data center network infrastructure.
- Good knowledge of routing, switching, wireless networking, network security, and network services.
- Experience with enterprise networking platforms and solutions such as Cisco, Aruba or equivalent technologies.
Network Operations & Monitoring
- Experience with enterprise network monitoring, management, and operational support tools.
- Familiarity with network monitoring, log management, network analytics, and IP Address Management (IPAM) solutions.
- Ability to proactively monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize service availability.
Problem Solving
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), problem management, and performance optimization.
- Ability to maintain stable, secure, and highly available network services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise or data center environments.
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure, operational best practices, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, technology vendors, and service providers.
Certifications
Professional certifications in networking or infrastructure technologies are preferred, such as:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Aruba Certified Professional (ACP), or equivalent
- ITIL Foundation certification
Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
