Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a versatile Hardware Engineer to join our team in a multi-disciplinary role covering hardware module design, firmware development, test software debugging, and system integration. In this entry-to-junior level position, you will contribute across the entire product lifecycle of our security screening systems. Working alongside senior engineers, this role offers an exceptional opportunity to build a comprehensive skillset bridging physical electronics, digital/analog design, and system testing.

Key Responsibilities

  •  FPGA & Firmware Development: Write, simulate, and implement digital logic modules in Verilog for module development and system integration.
  •  PCB Design & Capture: Design, capture schematics, and route multi-layer analog, digital, and power PCBs using EDA tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad).
  •  Integration & Debugging: Bring up new prototype boards and troubleshoot complex system issues using logic analysers, oscilloscopes, and multi-meters.
  • Test Software Development: Develop, maintain, and upgrade internal calibration and diagnostic GUI applications using C++ and MFC.
  •  Technical Documentation: Maintain organized code repositories and document hardware schematics, firmware architectures, and test software manuals.

Required Qualifications

  •  Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of hands-on experience across hardware, firmware, or software development (strong academic, capstone, or personal project work counts).
  •  Technical Foundations: Solid understanding of analog/digital circuit design, power management, and electronic components.
  • Lab Proficiency: Practical experience using hardware debugging tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analysers) and basic prototyping skills (e.g., soldering).

Core Professional Capabilities

  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Ability to systematically isolate hardware faults, debug firmware bottlenecks, and trace root causes in complex integrated systems.
  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Strong collaborative skills to bridge the gap between physical hardware and software systems, working effectively with diverse engineering peers.
  • Clear Technical Communication: Capable of documenting complex architectures clearly and articulating technical challenges or testing results to the wider team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with FPGA toolchains (e.g., AMD/Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
  • Exposure to C++ and Windows desktop application development (MFC or Win32 API).
  • Familiarity interfacing software with hardware via protocols (e.g., USB, UART, Serial, Ethernet, SPI, I2C).
  • Basic awareness of electrical safety practices (exposure to high voltage or specialized testing environments is a plus).
