Job Summary
Lead polymerization recipe design and scale-up, collaborate with R&D and HQ sales, resolve customer complaints, conduct QC/QA lab evaluations, train colleagues, leverage QMS for production improvements, and support management in organizational and risk management.
Responsibilities
- Design and modify polymerization recipes for plant scale-up to meet customer requirements
- Collaborate with parent company on polymer and application development to introduce trial tests and new grades smoothly with R&D
- Investigate root causes of customer complaints on sales goods and coordinate with HQ sales in Japan to resolve issues
- Introduce and transplant new polymerization recipes into company processes
- Perform hands-on QC/QA lab evaluations using GPC, HLC, GC, IR, Mooney, and preferably NMR, TG-DTA, viscoelastic property, and tire compounding equipment
- Train colleagues in chemistry, plant processes, rubber compounding, and related lab work to maintain plant operations and suggest production improvements from an equipment perspective
- Apply Quality Management System (QMS) knowledge to develop and improve production technologies and advise on stable test methods
- Participate in customer audits and provide accurate, effective responses
- Support and advise managers on department objectives including organization management, human resources, and risk management
Required competencies and certifications
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing solution and emulsion polymerization recipes from lab to plant scale-up
- Minimum 5 years of lab polymerization work experience as a chemist
- Minimum 5 years of rubber compounding and evaluation experience in tire applications as a researcher
- Well-versed in chemical composition, polymerization, chemical plant processes, and synthetic rubber applications
- JLPT N1 certificate
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on work experience in lab or plant manufacturing as a chemist or researcher
