Job Description

Responsibilities

The Deputy Director (Engineering & Technical) is responsible for providing strategic technical leadership for the Company's Data Centre business across Malaysia. The role leads technical governance across the full project lifecycle from tender, design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and project handover, ensuring technical compliance, multidisciplinary integration, constructability, operational reliability, and compliance with client requirements and authority compliance.


In addition to project delivery, the Deputy Director (Technical Lead) drives engineering innovation, technical standardisation, capability development, and continuous improvement to support the Company's long-term growth within the Malaysia Data Centre sector.


Roles & Responsibilities:


• Serve as the Company's technical authority for all Malaysia Data Centre projects.

• Maintain engineering standards, technical governance, design quality, and best practices across all disciplines.

• Provide strategic technical direction throughout the project lifecycle.

• Lead the overall technical delivery of Data Centre projects with primary responsibility for M&E systems and technical oversight of Civil & Structural and Architectural disciplines.


• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews and propose design enhancements, value engineering proposals, and engineering methodologies.

• Ensure engineering solutions comply with client requirements, company standards, Malaysian statutory regulations, and Data Centre best practices.


• Provide technical leadership through construction, commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and project handover.

• Ensure engineering intent is fully achieved, and all critical systems meet reliability, resilience, maintainability, redundancy, and operational performance requirements.

• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, design, constructability, commissioning, and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle.

• Drive innovation through modularisation, DFMA, digital engineering, engineering optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Lead technical input during tender preparation, including engineering strategies, technical

compliance, constructability reviews, execution methodologies, long-

lead equipment planning, and value engineering.

• Support business development activities, technical presentations, client engagements, and the

pursuit of new Data Centre opportunities across Malaysia.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, authorities, specialist vendors,

and subcontractors.

• Represent the Company during technical workshops, design reviews, authority engagements,

executive meetings, and key client presentations.


• Lead, mentor, and develop technical managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams.

• Drive technical competency, engineering standardisation, succession planning, knowledge

sharing, and lessons learnt across the Malaysia Data Centre business.


Qualifications


• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent professional accreditation is an advantage.


Experience

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in engineering and construction, with significant

experience in Data Centre or other mission-critical facilities.

• Minimum 10 years of leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Proven track record in leading the technical delivery of hyperscale, colocation, or mission-critical

Data Centre projects.

• Experience in Design & Build (D&B) project delivery is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of Malaysian statutory requirements, authority approval processes, and

relevant engineering codes and standards.

• Extensive knowledge of critical M&E infrastructure, including electrical power systems, cooling

systems, fire protection, ELV, BMS, EPMS, ICT, and integrated building systems.
