Job Summary

• Candidates will be expected to develop and deliver undergraduate courses in the School of Engineering and Science, covering areas related to analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, environmental science, and their area of research expertise.
• Ability to teach a wider range of science subjects including laboratory skills, sustainability, ecology, scientific communication, or introductory biotechnology will be an added advantage.
• Provide leadership in teaching, engage in research that introduces fresh directions and innovations, and foster external engagement for the School of Engineering and Science and the University as a whole.
• Provide supervision and academic guidance for undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
• Conduct scholarly research and contribute actively to the university’s research objectives.
• Develop, revise, and enhance course materials to reflect industry developments and meet accreditation standards.
• Contribute to curriculum design, review, and other academic as well as administrative responsibilities.
• Build and maintain collaborations with industry partners to support research initiatives and student internship opportunities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• A PhD in Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Teaching experience at the tertiary level will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, or environmental science is essential.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas will be an added advantage:
• Environmental analytical chemistry for emerging contaminants (PFAS, industrial pollutants, microplastics additives, endocrine disruptors) in water/soil/sediment.
• Green / sustainable chemistry and chemical remediation technologies (green solvents, catalytic or adsorption-based pollutant removal, circular‑economy chemistry).
• Computational/environmental chemical informatics: application of AI/machine learning, data modelling, and predictive analytics to environmental chemistry and contaminant fate/transport studies.
• Strong research track record, including publications and/or evidence of research potential.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Bioprocess engineering for environmental or industrial waste treatment (non‑food waste), waste‑to‑resource conversion, microbial or enzymatic bioremediation.
• Tropical ecosystem geochemistry and climate‑relevant chemical cycling in forests, peatlands, freshwater systems: trace metal cycling, nutrient fluxes, greenhouse‑gas–chemistry interactions, soil/peat chemistry.

Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM13,000.00 per month
