Job Description

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

a) Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and legislation.

b) Ensuring the highest safety compliance standards and health work setting for employee, visitors, vendors and contractor.

c) Implement, monitor and enforce the Permit-to-Work system to ensure all operational activities conducted by employee and contractors are properly authorized, controlled and comply with safety requirement.

d) Work closely with management to ensure that safety is a priority throughout the organization.

e) Coordinate with safety coordinator to ensure safe operation of machinery and proper use of PPE.

f) Supervise the safety committee and ensure compliance with safety policies.

g) Organize and coordinate the safety committees and other safety-related meetings.

h) Organize and coordinate the safety training for employees and management as necessary.

i) Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify hazards and potential risks 

j) Investigate accidents, incidents and near miss event to determine the root cause and take corrective action to prevent recurrence.

k) Coordinate the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) including developing fire system, evacuation plans and procedures including emergency drills (fire, chemical).

l) Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety strategies, plans, HIRARC, safe work procedures and adjust as needed.

m) Prepare and review safety performance monitoring reports, records and documentation in accordance with DOSH requirements and company policies.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

a) A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.

b) Minimum 2-5 years experiences in safety role, regulatory compliance, EHS

c) Possessing a Green Book registration with DOSH is advantageous.

d) Familiarity with DOE, DOSH guidelines & ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards.

e) Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH (Malaysia).
