• Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements fully
• Take accurate measurements and calculate the size and amount of materials needed for each task
• Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials (e.g., fiberglass) according to measurements
• Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings using raw materials or pre-constructed items
• Lay out floorings, roofings, or drywalls ensuring they are level and properly aligned
• Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items, then install them at designated locations
• Inspect work sites and structures to identify repair or maintenance needs and perform necessary fixes
• Build scaffolding and other construction structures to support work activities
• Follow safety guidelines consistently to maintain a safe work environment
• Adapt to work schedules that include night shifts, Sundays, public holidays, and other odd timings based on customer requirements

Required competencies and certifications

• Proven experience as a carpenter demonstrating ability to complete carpentry tasks effectively
• Hands-on experience working with carpentry materials to produce quality results
• Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and installation methods to ensure structural integrity
• Proficient use of electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools such as powered saws, hammers, and rulers
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings accurately
• Good physical condition and endurance to perform physically demanding tasks
