STEM Genius Coding & Robotics Academy is looking for an experienced Senior Robotics & Coding Trainer to join our team.
This is a hands-on teaching and curriculum development role. You will conduct Coding, Robotics and STEM lessons while taking ownership of lesson planning, curriculum development, trainer mentoring and competition preparation.
We are looking for someone who can go beyond delivering prepared lesson materials. You should be able to evaluate how students learn, develop and improve lessons, guide junior trainers, and help raise the overall quality of our programmes.
Conduct engaging Coding, Robotics and STEM lessons for primary and secondary school students
Teach using platforms such as Scratch, LEGO WeDo, LEGO SPIKE Essential and LEGO SPIKE Prime
Introduce programming, computational thinking, engineering and problem-solving concepts in an age-appropriate manner
Adapt lesson delivery according to students' abilities and learning pace while maintaining learning objectives
Monitor students' progress and identify areas requiring additional support or challenge
Maintain effective classroom management and a positive learning environment
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students
Encourage students to develop independent thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills
Develop new lesson plans, projects and learning activities for Coding, Robotics and STEM programmes
Review, modify and improve existing curriculum based on classroom observations, student performance and learning outcomes
Develop structured learning progressions from beginner to advanced levels
Create worksheets, programming challenges, robotics projects, assessments and supporting teaching resources
Develop differentiated activities to cater to students of different abilities and learning speeds
Test and evaluate new robotics projects and programming activities before classroom deployment
Ensure lesson plans and teaching materials are sufficiently structured and documented for consistent delivery by other trainers
Research and evaluate new technologies, platforms and teaching methodologies that can be incorporated into our programmes
Continuously identify opportunities to improve existing programmes and develop new learning experiences
Mentor and provide guidance to junior and part-time trainers
Train new trainers on curriculum, lesson delivery and classroom management
Observe lesson delivery and provide constructive feedback
Support trainers in resolving technical, teaching and classroom-management challenges
Share teaching best practices and help maintain consistent teaching standards
Assist in improving the overall quality and effectiveness of the academy's programmes
Ensure trainers understand the learning objectives and intended outcomes of the curriculum rather than simply following lesson instructions
Coach and prepare students for Robotics, Coding, Engineering and STEM competitions
Guide students in robot design, programming, engineering and problem-solving
Develop structured competition training plans and strategies
Guide students through iterative design, programming, testing, troubleshooting and improvement
Help students analyse problems and develop effective technical solutions
Develop students' teamwork, presentation and competition-readiness skills
Support competition team selection and preparation
Assist students with project ideation, prototyping, documentation and presentation where applicable
Experience coaching, mentoring or participating in Robotics, Coding, Engineering or STEM competitions is strongly preferred.
This may include, but is not limited to, FIRST LEGO League (FLL), National Robotics Competition (NRC), coding competitions, robotics challenges, engineering competitions, hackathons, innovation competitions or other relevant local and international technology and STEM competitions.
We welcome candidates with competition experience outside of FLL or NRC who can demonstrate relevant experience in preparing students or teams for competitive technical challenges.
We are looking for someone who:
Has prior experience teaching Coding, Robotics, STEM or related subjects
Has strong programming and/or robotics fundamentals
Is capable of independently developing structured lesson plans and teaching materials
Can evaluate, modify and improve an existing curriculum rather than simply following prepared lesson plans
Is comfortable mentoring and supporting junior trainers
Has strong classroom management and communication skills
Is organised, dependable and able to take ownership of assigned programmes
Has good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Is proactive in identifying problems and proposing improvements
Is willing and able to learn new technologies and teaching platforms
Is comfortable working with children and understands that students learn at different speeds
Is able to work independently while collaborating effectively with other trainers and management
A Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Robotics, Education or a related discipline would be advantageous.
Experience with some of the following would be advantageous:
Scratch
Python
LEGO SPIKE Prime
LEGO SPIKE Essential
LEGO WeDo
Robotics programming
Robot design and engineering
Arduino / Raspberry Pi
Electronics and sensors
AI / Machine Learning
Competition robotics
Candidates are not expected to have experience with every platform listed above.
Strong technical fundamentals, teaching ability, curriculum-development capability and willingness to learn are more important than familiarity with any single robotics platform.
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following will have an advantage:
Developing Coding, Robotics or STEM curriculum
Creating structured lesson plans, projects and teaching resources
Coaching and preparing students for Robotics, Coding, Engineering or STEM competitions
FIRST LEGO League (FLL), National Robotics Competition (NRC), or other local or international robotics and coding competitions
Developing competition strategies, robot designs, programming solutions or project presentations
Guiding students through ideation, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting and iterative improvement
Mentoring or supervising junior trainers
Teaching primary or secondary school students
Managing project-based or competition-based STEM programmes
This is a full-time position.
As our classes are conducted primarily outside regular school hours, candidates should be comfortable working weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends according to the academy's teaching schedule.
Beyond technical knowledge, we place strong emphasis on teaching ability, reliability, initiative, leadership and ownership.
We are looking for someone who takes responsibility for the quality of the programmes they manage and is willing to continuously improve them.
The successful candidate should be able to develop rather than simply deliver, improve rather than simply follow, and mentor rather than simply teach.
You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of our Coding, Robotics and STEM programmes, mentor other trainers, and prepare students for competitions and more advanced learning opportunities.
