Job Description
Responsibilities
1.Supervise site Job:
CCTV cameras
, DVR/NVR systems, monitors, and networking equipment.
Run cables (coaxial, Ethernet, fiber) for camera connections.
Mount cameras in appropriate locations for maximum coverage.
Configure recording systems and storage devices.
Common equipment used:
IP cameras
Analog cameras
NVR/DVR systems
Network switches and routers
2. System Configuration
Configure camera settings such as:
Resolution
Frame rate
Motion detection
Recording schedules
Set up
remote viewing
via mobile apps or computers.
Integrate CCTV with other security systems such as:
Access control
Alarm systems
Video management software
3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform routine maintenance
Diagnose issues such as:
Camera not working
Poor video quality
Network connection failures
Storage problems
Replace faulty cameras, cables, or recorders.
4. Testing & Commissioning
Test all cameras after installation.
Ensure recording and playback functions work properly.
Verify remote monitoring access.
5. Documentation
Prepare system diagrams and installation reports.
Record IP addresses, login details, and system configuration.
Provide user manuals or training to clients.
6. Client Support
Train clients on how to:
View live cameras
Playback recorded footage
Export video evidence
Provide technical support when problems occur.
7. Compliance & Safety
CCTV engineers may also ensure systems comply with guidelines from organizationssuch as the Personal Data Protection Commission regarding privacy and dataprotection.
Additional skills often required
Basic networking (IP addressing, routers, switches)
Electrical wiring knowledge
Experience with CCTV brands like Hikvision, Dahua Technology, or Axis Communications.
