On behalf of a confidential international oil & gas exploration & production company with operations across Malaysia, EP2C is recruiting for the position below, based at the client's Kuala Lumpur office.

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

MISSION / ROLE OVERVIEW

The Team Leader, Geophysics leads the team in identifying new exploration prospects, using both geological and geophysical approaches, and in prospect ranking, to support management decision-making on exploration campaigns. The role supports departmental work-programme and budget planning, provides supervision, coaching and mentoring to geophysicists to ensure knowledge/technology transfer, and motivates the team to work closely with geologists to evaluate and monitor exploration activities. The role holder also liaises with internal and external experts, partners and agencies as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead the team in performing seismic interpretation over acquired seismic cubes, identifying additional seismic markers for both structural and stratigraphic purposes.
2. Lead the team in defining potential prospects from exploration campaigns and carrying out prospect evaluation and ranking through combined geological and geophysical evaluation.
3. Plan and propose exploration wells at optimal locations.
4. Lead the team in evaluating and monitoring project exploration activities.
5. Supervise geophysical data acquisition during drilling operations.
6. Assist management with seismic acquisition and processing planning, including geophysical studies such as quantitative interpretation (QI).
7. Support the department manager in planning and monitoring departmental work plans and budgets, maintaining appropriate working procedures and methodology, and keeping exploration-geophysics capability and technology up to date.
8. Coach, motivate and develop junior staff, including technical training to strengthen geophysical knowledge across the team.
9. Ensure the quality of team discussions and decisions.
10. Promote the implementation of the organisation's safety, health and environment policy and regulations across all work under their responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

1. Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics or a related field; a Master's degree is an advantage.
2. Professional certification from an accredited body/association is an advantage.
3. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in geology/exploration; oil & gas industry experience is a key advantage.
4. Strong track record in structural reliability of seismic interpretation and mapping.
5. Proven ability to contribute to identification of potential prospects and commercial assessment across a given block.
6. Effective at ensuring efficient technology transfer within a team.
7. Excellent communication skills.
8. High level of interpersonal skills and integrity.
9. Strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to build working relationships internally and externally.
