Customer Project Manager – Network Infrastructure

We are seeking an experienced Customer Project Manager to lead complex Cisco network and infrastructure projects for enterprise and service-provider customers in Malaysia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery, working closely with customers, consulting engineers, solution architects, vendors and regional stakeholders. This position requires strong project governance combined with a good understanding of enterprise networking, network security, data centre or service-provider environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage network and infrastructure projects from initiation and planning through implementation, acceptance and operational handover.
- Define and maintain project scope, schedules, milestones, resource plans and delivery dependencies.
- Develop detailed project plans, work breakdown structures and implementation timelines.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, procurement activities and commercial deliverables.
- Track risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and change requests through appropriate project governance.
- Coordinate consulting engineers, technical specialists, vendors, subcontractors and customer teams.
- Facilitate project kick-off meetings, governance meetings, technical workshops and executive steering updates.
- Monitor deliverables against contractual requirements, statements of work and customer acceptance criteria.
- Support implementation, migration, testing and cutover activities, including planned after-hours or weekend changes when required.
- Provide clear project status reports covering progress, risks, financials, resource requirements and recovery actions.
- Manage customer expectations, escalations and stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure proper project documentation, customer acceptance, knowledge transfer and handover to operations or support teams.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in ICT project delivery, including at least 5 years managing customer-facing network or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects involving one or more of the following:
- Enterprise routing and switching
- LAN, WAN, wireless or SD-WAN
- Network security and firewalls
- Data centre networking
- Service-provider IP or MPLS networks
- Network migration, refresh or transformation programmes
- Strong understanding of project scope, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, change control and vendor management.
- Experience managing technical teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders across customer and delivery organisations.
- Able to translate technical activities into clear business and project updates.
- Strong customer-management, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Willingness to support regional stakeholders and scheduled implementation activities outside normal working hours when necessary.
- Candidates should already have the right to work in Malaysia.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project-management certification.
- ITIL certification or familiarity with IT service-management processes.
- Previous experience working with Cisco, a Cisco partner, systems integrator, telecommunications provider or managed-services organisation.
- Familiarity with Cisco technologies and project-delivery methodologies.
- Experience managing multi-country or regional technology deployments.
This is a project-delivery position requiring substantial network or infrastructure experience. Candidates whose background is mainly in application or software projects without relevant network-infrastructure delivery exposure may not be suitable.
