About The Company

Our client is a premier regional HR Technology and Payroll Outsourcing (BPO) specialist delivering end-to-end workforce management solutions to multinational corporate clients across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Australia/New Zealand (ANZ) regions. Combining enterprise HR software platforms with deep statutory compliance expertise, the organization empowers global businesses to streamline multi-country payroll operations, enforce strict SLA governance, and scale regional delivery hubs effectively.

About The Job

Our client is seeking a high-autonomy Payroll Manager (Australian Payroll Outsourcing) to take full operational ownership of their Australian client portfolio based in Kuala Lumpur. This newly created headcount combines hands-on execution of complex Australian payrolls, client onboarding/database setup, and direct team leadership.

  • Team Leadership: Directly lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6 to 7 KL-based Regional Payroll Specialists to ensure daily operational discipline and strict SLA compliance.
  • Australian Payroll Execution: Oversee end-to-end Australian payroll operations, including Modern Award/timesheet interpretations, Single Touch Payroll (STP Phase 2), Superannuation clearing house submissions, PAYG withholding, and State Payroll Tax.
  • Quality Assurance & Governance: Conduct rigorous secondary reviews on all team payroll computations, variance reports, annual returns (EOFY), and bank submission files prior to regional release authorization.
  • Client Onboarding & Implementation: Lead the technical setup of new client databases, wage-type mappings, leave administration rules, and standardized Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Client Advisory & Escalations: Serve as the primary operational point of contact for Australian client stakeholders, offering expert guidance on Australian payroll compliance and handling complex operational escalations.
  • Work Location & Model: Kuala Lumpur. On-site for the initial 3-month probation period, transitioning to a Hybrid model (3 Days WFO / 2 Days WFH) thereafter.

About The Manager/team

This position reports directly to the regional Payroll Manager based Australia, acting as the primary local lead and escalation authority for the Kuala Lumpur delivery center. The role oversees a dedicated team of 6 to 7 Regional Payroll Specialists. The working culture is performance-driven, highly autonomous, and collaborative, offering direct regional client exposure, technical capability development, and clear ownership over operational delivery.
