About The Role

As the Regulatory Affairs & Product Compliance Manager, you will be the key authority ensuring all products—including sports gear, third-party brands, marketplace items, and packaging—comply with Malaysian laws, safety regulations, toxicological norms, and environmental standards (durability, traceability, and green claims).

You will lead regulatory intelligence, direct product homologation, manage non-compliance risks, and ensure 100% of products selected for the Malaysian market meet local regulatory requirements prior to launch.

Key Responsibilities1. Regulatory Intelligence & Standards

• Establish and execute a regulatory monitoring strategy to stay ahead of updates in Malaysian laws, SIRIM/DOSH/MDTCA standards, and technical regulations.
• Translate complex regulatory updates into practical, actionable guidance for business and product teams.
• Organize internal compliance committees and participate in external technical committees or public affairs discussions.
• Collaborate with local legal advisors, law firms, and regional leaders to conduct annual compliance reviews.
  
  

2. Product Homologation & Launch Support

• Lead and ensure 100% completed product homologation for the Malaysian market before commercial rollout.
• Adapt global compliance processes to meet Malaysian regulatory standards and consumer requirements.
• Advise offer, supply, and marketing teams on packaging compliance, product claims, labeling, and mandatory consumer information.
• Partner with accredited internal and external testing laboratories for product verification and testing.
  
  

3. Risk Assessment, Audits & Alerts

• Conduct at least two formal product conformity audits per year, present debriefs to management, and execute approved action plans.
• Map and evaluate product compliance risk levels (safety, legal, and brand reputation).
• Act as an independent counterweight—alerting management and halting non-compliant ("RED") products from being sold.
• Partner with legal counsel during official authority inspections and manage the necessary documentation.
  
  

4. Capability Building & System Management

• Design and deliver regular training programs for supply chain, production, and commercial teams.
• Ensure all local product compliance data and documentation are accurately maintained across database tools (e.g., MCB, Starlims, PLM).
• Document all non-compliance decisions and preventive actions to avoid repeat issues.
  
  

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 2+ years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, Product Safety, Product Compliance, or Quality Assurance within consumer goods, retail, or manufacturing in Malaysia.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Malaysian consumer safety laws, labeling requirements, packaging standards, environmental norms, and authority inspection protocols.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Material Science, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
• Languages: Professional fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (essential for liaising with local regulatory authorities and Ministries).
