Responsibilities
Position Summary
We are seeking an innovative
Ultrafast Laser Scientist
to design, build, and optimize cutting-edge femtosecond and picosecond laser systems. In this role, you will lead the development of advanced optical technologies, transition laboratory prototypes into scalable products, and explore new applications in precision micromachining, spectroscopy, or material processing.
Key Responsibilities
System Design:
Design, simulate, and assemble ultrafast laser cavities, amplifiers, and optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs).
Dispersion Control:
Implement and optimize pulse compression, dispersion compensation, and pulse diagnostics (FROG, SPIDER, autocorrelators).
Prototype Testing:
Characterize laser performance including pulse duration, beam quality (M²), pointing stability, and average power.
Technology Transfer:
Bridge the gap between R&D and engineering to package sensitive optical setups into robust, commercial-grade systems.
Application R&D:
Conduct high-precision material interaction experiments to validate laser performance for targeted industry applications.
Required Qualifications
Education:
PhD or Master’s degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ultrafast optics.
Experience:
Hands-on experience building, aligning, and troubleshooting mode-locked lasers and chirped-pulse amplification (CPA) systems.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with optical design and modeling software (e.g., Zemax, MATLAB, Python) and advanced optical diagnostic tools.
Lab Expertise:
Deep understanding of non-linear optics (SHG, THG), fiber or solid-state laser physics, and optomechanical design.
