We are looking for an experienced and technically competent Project Manager – Technical to lead and manage the implementation of TNB-related projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from planning and mobilisation to implementation, testing, commissioning, handover, and project closure.
The role requires strong technical knowledge, project management capabilities, site coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including TNB representatives, consultants, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered according to the approved scope, timeline, budget, quality, safety, technical specifications, and client requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Project Planning & Management
- Plan, manage, and oversee the full project lifecycle from project initiation to completion.
- Develop project plans, schedules, milestones, work programmes, and resource requirements.
- Ensure project activities are carried out according to approved scope, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Monitor project progress against agreed timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Ensure projects are completed within approved budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate project mobilisation, implementation, testing, commissioning, handover, and close-out activities.
- Manage multiple project activities and priorities simultaneously.
2. Technical Project Management
- Review and understand technical specifications, drawings, method statements, work procedures, and project requirements.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to project engineers, technical teams, contractors, and site personnel.
- Coordinate technical implementation and resolve project-related technical issues.
- Review proposed technical solutions and ensure compliance with project specifications and client requirements.
- Coordinate installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and integration activities where applicable.
- Ensure technical deliverables meet required standards and acceptance criteria.
- Liaise with technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve site or implementation issues.
3. TNB & Client Coordination
- Act as the key project contact for coordination with TNB representatives and other project stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings, technical discussions, site meetings, and progress meetings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant TNB procedures, technical requirements, specifications, and project standards.
- Coordinate project submissions, approvals, inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover requirements.
- Follow up with TNB and relevant stakeholders on approvals, comments, site requirements, and outstanding matters.
- Manage client expectations and ensure timely communication of project progress and issues.
4. Site & Contractor Management
- Coordinate and monitor project site activities according to approved plans and schedules.
- Supervise and coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and technical teams.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor work progress.
- Ensure manpower, tools, equipment, materials, and resources are available according to project requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, productivity, and adherence to project schedules.
- Identify site issues and coordinate corrective actions with relevant parties.
- Ensure site activities comply with applicable safety and work requirements.
5. Project Schedule & Cost Control
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and implementation timelines.
- Monitor actual progress against planned progress and identify delays.
- Develop recovery plans and corrective actions for delayed activities.
- Monitor project costs, material requirements, manpower, and resource utilisation.
- Review variations, additional works, and project cost implications.
- Support the preparation and submission of variation orders, claims, and related documentation where applicable.
6. Risk, Issue & Quality Management
- Identify, assess, and monitor project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain project risk and issue registers and ensure timely mitigation.
- Escalate critical project risks and issues to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure project activities comply with approved quality standards and technical requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and quality checks.
- Ensure defects, non-conformities, and outstanding works are properly recorded and resolved.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and submit regular project progress reports to management and clients.
- Prepare project dashboards, schedules, meeting minutes, action lists, and status updates.
- Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
- Coordinate technical submissions, method statements, test reports, inspection records, and handover documents.
- Maintain project records including drawings, approvals, correspondence, site reports, testing and commissioning documents, and as-built documentation.
- Prepare project close-out and handover documentation.
8. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Coordinate project testing and commissioning activities with technical teams, contractors, and TNB representatives.
- Ensure testing and commissioning activities are conducted according to approved procedures and requirements.
- Coordinate rectification of defects and outstanding technical issues.
- Ensure all required testing reports and acceptance documentation are completed.
- Coordinate final inspection, acceptance, handover, and project close-out activities.
9. Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and coordinate project engineers, technical executives, site teams, contractors, and other project personnel.
- Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance against project requirements.
- Conduct project coordination meetings and ensure action items are followed up.
- Provide guidance and support to project team members in resolving technical and operational issues.
- Promote effective communication and teamwork across project stakeholders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably in engineering, electrical, ICT, infrastructure, utilities, or technical projects.
- Experience managing large-scale technical projects is highly preferred.
- Experience working with TNB, utility companies, government agencies, GLCs, or major infrastructure projects will be an added advantage.
- Strong technical understanding of project implementation, site coordination, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Good understanding of project management principles, scheduling, risk management, and quality control.
- Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of technical documentation, drawings, specifications, method statements, and project reports.
- Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or similar software is an advantage.
- Possession of PMP, CAPM, or other relevant project management certification is an advantage.
- Willing to travel and work at project sites as required.
- Possess own transportation.
