About The Company

Our client is an established regional systems integrator delivering professional audio visual, broadcast, and technology solutions to corporate, government, media, and institutional clients across Asia-Pacific.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to oversee project delivery across Malaysia. This is primarily a management and leadership position responsible for guiding a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required technical and quality standards.

The successful candidate should have strong AV technical knowledge and site experience. While this is not a hands-on engineering role, you must be able to understand system configurations, identify project issues, challenge technical decisions, and provide clear direction to the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers.
• Monitor project schedules, site progress, submissions, procurement, and handover activities.
• Take ownership of project costing, budgets, margins, and P&L performance.
• Review equipment orders to ensure specifications, quantities, and delivery timelines are accurate.
• Maintain a clear understanding of each project’s progress, risks, and outstanding issues.
• Manage relationships with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Address project delays, payment issues, variations, and site-related challenges.
• Ensure documentation, approvals, claims, and project submissions are completed on time.
• Support the team during demanding installation, testing, commissioning, and handover periods.
• Provide management with regular project status, cost, risk, and performance updates.
• Ensure projects comply with contractual, quality, safety, and operational requirements.
  
  

Requirements

• At least 5-8 years of experience in AV systems integration, ELV, broadcast, or a related technical industry.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects and leading project delivery teams.
• Strong understanding of professional AV systems, system configuration, programming, testing, and commissioning.
• Solid site experience and familiarity with the full project lifecycle.
• Experience managing project budgets, costing, margins, and P&L.
• Confident in dealing with main contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and demanding stakeholders.
• Able to manage project delays, payment challenges, contractual issues, and competing priorities.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Organised, commercially aware, and able to perform under pressure.
• Diploma or degree in Engineering, AV Technology, IT, Project Management, or a related field.
• PMP, CTS, or relevant industry certifications would be an advantage.
