About the role

HLH Building & Construction is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Contracts QS to strengthen our Commercial & Contracts team. This role is suitable for a commercially minded QS who wants to be involved beyond measurement and claims — including project budgeting, subcontractor procurement, cost control, variations and overall project profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare project budgets, cost plans and cost breakdowns

• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and BQ

• Source, evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations

• Prepare subcontractor comparison and award recommendations

• Prepare and manage subcontract agreements, purchase orders and work packages

• Prepare progress claims, variation orders and final accounts

• Evaluate and certify subcontractor progress claims

• Monitor project costs against approved budgets

• Maintain accurate committed cost and actual cost records

• Prepare monthly project cost reports and cost-to-complete forecasts

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline

• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant QS / commercial experience

• Experience with a main contractor, construction or interior fit-out contractor is preferred

• Strong experience in subcontractor procurement, progress claims, VO and cost control

• Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial documentation

• Able to prepare and maintain project cost reports independently

• Strong negotiation and analytical skills

• Able to work closely with Project Managers, Procurement and Finance

• Good Microsoft Excel skills

• Responsible, organised and commercially aware
