Job Description

Cloud / DevOps Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure across public and hybrid cloud environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Support cloud migration, deployment, infrastructure upgrade, and modernization projects.
  • Build, implement, and maintain development tools, infrastructure, and deployment environments.
  • Automate and continuously improve software development, testing, deployment, and release processes.
  • Provision and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates, and Ansible.
  • Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable software delivery.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects, Technical Leads, Software Engineers, and stakeholders to understand technical and business requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Ensure the availability, scalability, security, and performance of cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
  • Configure and manage cloud networking components, including VPC/VNet, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, routing, and DNS.
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, backup management, and support disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
  • Monitor cloud environments and applications to ensure service availability and compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Implement security best practices and ensure systems are protected against cybersecurity threats.
  • Support containerized workloads and deployment environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure, application, system, and network-related issues.
  • Review and analyse code, system performance, and deployment processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Work with development teams to ensure established engineering, security, and deployment processes are followed.
  • Participate in project planning and contribute to technical and project implementation decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including infrastructure configurations, architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, and project reports.

Qualities We Value

  • Strong foundational knowledge of at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Hands-on experience or familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and development workflows, including GitLab.
  • Knowledge of scripting or programming languages such as Python or Ruby.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts, including VPC/VNet, VPN, firewalls, load balancing, routing, and DNS.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, hypervisors, and cloud-native services.
  • Basic understanding of databases and SQL.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure security and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on attitude.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.
  • Experience supporting applications or technology projects within the Public Safety, Government, or related sectors would be advantageous.
