Job description:

About Us

Pasar Besar is a uniquely Malaysian retail, food and cultural destination located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s heritage district. We bring together local products, food experiences, makers, and community-driven activities in a vibrant environment visited by both tourists and locals.

As we continue to strengthen our brand and prepare for the next phase of growth, including tourism-led opportunities, we are looking for an energetic and commercially minded Assistant Marketing Manager to help drive visitor traffic, brand visibility, campaign execution, and business performance.

Role Purpose

This role is responsible for supporting and executing integrated marketing initiatives that increase brand awareness, footfall, customer engagement, tenant/vendor visibility, and sales performance across Pasar Besar’s business areas.

We are looking for a marketing professional who can think beyond posting content and instead help build a destination brand that delivers measurable business outcomes.

The ideal candidate is not only creative, but also commercially aware, operationally practical, and confident in working across departments to turn ideas into measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the planning and execution of monthly and quarterly marketing campaigns aligned to business goals, festive seasons, tourism peaks, and commercial priorities

2. Drive initiatives that increase tourist traffic, local repeat visits, and customer conversion

3. Work closely with Operations, Merchandising, F&B, Makers Hall, IT, and Management to ensure campaigns are practical, timely, and well executed on the ground

4. Coordinate social media, content planning, visual storytelling, promotions, events, partnerships, and in-store activation

5. Ensure marketing campaigns are translated effectively into store visibility, signage, promo communication, and customer-facing experiences

6. Develop stronger storytelling around Malaysian products, heritage, culture, food, and destination appeal

7. Coordinate and monitor creative production, including artwork, captions, videos, photography, reels, and promotional materials

8. Build and manage relationships with vendors, tenants, media partners, content creators, tourism partners, and external agencies

9. Track and report campaign performance including reach, engagement, footfall impact, sales support, tenant participation, and ROI indicators

10. Support management with marketing reports, proposals, calendars, and presentation materials

11. Maintain brand consistency across all platforms and customer touchpoints

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, Business, Branding, Hospitality, Tourism, or related field

2. Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in marketing, preferably in retail, mall, tourism, hospitality, food & beverage, lifestyle, or destination-based businesses

3. Strong understanding of integrated marketing, not just social media execution

4. Experience in campaign planning, event activation, partnerships, and content direction

5. Good commercial sense with the ability to connect marketing efforts to traffic, customer engagement, and sales outcomes

6. Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills across internal teams and external partners

7. Able to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and manage multiple priorities

8. Familiar with digital platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and basic paid/digital campaign coordination

9. Strong writing and presentation skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia

10. Able to work on-site and be actively involved in campaign rollouts, events, festive activations, and weekend peak periods when needed

11. Applicants who are strong only in design/content execution but have limited experience in commercial campaign planning, cross-functional coordination, and business-driven marketing may not be suitable for this role.

Preferred Advantage

Candidates with experience in any of the following will have an added advantage:

1. Retail destination marketing

2. Tourism or heritage destination campaigns

3. Mall or footfall-driven marketing

4. Vendor / tenant activation programs

5. F&B, community, experiential, or lifestyle marketing

6. Campaign reporting tied to business KPIs

What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means being able to:

1. turn campaigns into stronger footfall and customer response

2. improve brand visibility and destination appeal

3. support better tenant/vendor participation

4. execute more effective promo and festive campaigns

5. work cross-functionally with speed, professionalism, and ownership

6. contribute meaningfully to Pasar Besar’s commercial growth and long-term brand positioning

Why Join Us

This is an opportunity to be part of a growing Malaysian destination brand with strong potential in retail, food, tourism, culture, and experiential marketing. You will work in a unique heritage environment and play a meaningful role in shaping how Pasar Besar grows its presence and relevance for both tourists and locals.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
