Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Database Administrator role based in Selangor, Malaysia. The Database Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining database systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring database health, managing backup and recovery processes, implementing replication and high-availability solutions, and resolving performance and reliability issues. The role also involves creating and maintaining database documentation, collaborating with application and infrastructure teams on database design and integration, and supporting data migration, upgrades, and patching activities. The Database Administrator will contribute to continuous improvement by recommending best practices, automation opportunities, and enhancements to database operations.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Administration and general Databases management.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Database Design and capacity planning for scalable, secure systems.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Troubleshooting and performance tuning for complex database environments.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Replication and high-availability configurations to ensure business continuity.
  • Experience with major RDBMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) is highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database services and scripting or automation tools is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
