Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Malaysian 2nd Officer to join our team on an Oil/Chemical Bunker Tanker operating in the Singapore region. The successful candidate will be a crucial part of the bridge team, responsible for safe navigation, efficient cargo operations, and strict adherence to international maritime regulations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and efficient navigational watch, ensuring strict adherence to collision regulations and company procedures.
  • Assist the Master in the preparation and execution of voyage plans, including route planning, chart corrections (both paper and ECDIS), and publication updates.
  • Oversee and actively participate in all aspects of oil and chemical cargo operations, including loading, discharging, bunkering, tank cleaning, and slop disposal, ensuring compliance with MARPOL regulations and cargo handling procedures.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance, calibration, and operational readiness of all bridge equipment, including radar, GPS, ECDIS, and communication systems (GMDSS).
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of safety and firefighting equipment, ensuring all gear is in good working order and ready for immediate use.
  • Supervise and train junior officers and deck crew in watchkeeping duties, safety procedures, and cargo operations.
  • Act as the designated Safety Officer or Medical Officer as required, overseeing health and safety protocols onboard and providing first aid.
  • Ensure compliance with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, and all other relevant international and flag state regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date ship's records, logs, and reports, including oil record book, cargo logbook, and navigation logbook.
  • Participate in emergency drills and training, demonstrating proficiency in fire fighting, abandon ship, and pollution prevention procedures.
  • Report any defects, incidents, or non-conformities promptly to the Master and relevant departments.
