Job Description

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant/Associate (Data Analyst) position to support data processing and statistical analysis for a large-scale, recurring population health survey.

This survey monitors the health status and lifestyle patterns of local populations and provides timely, evidence-based insights to inform public health planning. The role focuses on rigorous data processing, statistical analysis, and production of policy-oriented reports, rather than academic research or journal publications.

Candidates will work with large, complex datasets; apply quantitative methods to generate actionable insights; and collaborate with lead investigators and policy stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Analysis

  • Conduct data quality checks and apply sampling frames and weighting procedures to survey data.
  • Perform statistical analyses to assess population health trends and evaluate public health policies.
  • Work with Principal Investigators (PIs) and stakeholders to refine survey methodology, support ethics applications, and track project deliverables.

Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with data collection and processing teams to ensure data accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
  • Engage with policymakers and national agencies to ensure survey relevance and alignment with policy needs.
  • Translate analytical findings into practical insights and policy-relevant recommendations.

Knowledge Management & Dissemination

  • Synthesise findings into policy reports and briefs
  • Support knowledge-sharing activities, including public briefings of survey results.

Requirements

  • Degree or Master’s in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in R; experience with SAS is advantageous as role involves working with SAS-based data pipelines.
  • Strong grounding in quantitative research methods, especially survey design and analysis.
  • Good analytical and writing skills, with the ability to translate statistical findings into policy-relevant insights.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in survey operations or quantitative research is an advantage.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time, office-based position at NUS. The role requires on-site collaboration with investigators, data teams and policy stakeholders.
  • Recruitment is open immediately, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
  • For further inquiries, please contact Ms Jacinta Chen (*************) or Dr Rick Ong (*************).

Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
