Job Summary
The Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Western cuisine, ensuring consistency in food presentation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook Western dishes following established recipes and quality standards to ensure consistent food presentation
Assist in daily food preparation and mise en place to support kitchen readiness
Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of the kitchen to comply with safety standards
Monitor food quality, freshness, and proper storage of ingredients to ensure food safety
Minimise food wastage by using ingredients efficiently during food preparation
Assist in stock control by tracking inventory and notifying supervisors when supplies run low
Collaborate closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and kitchen team to ensure efficient kitchen service
Comply with SFA food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned to support overall kitchen operations
Preferred competencies and qualifications
Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or Commis Chef in a Western restaurant
Knowledge of Western cooking techniques and food preparation methods
Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
