Retail Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations & Sales

• Oversee the daily operations of the outlet to ensure smooth, efficient, and profitable performance.
• Lead and motivate the team to achieve daily, monthly, and overall store sales targets.
• Monitor store sales, KPIs, productivity, and operational performance.
• Analyse sales trends and customer purchasing patterns to identify opportunities to increase sales.
• Implement promotional campaigns, seasonal activities, and sales initiatives to drive revenue.
• Ensure all company SOPs, policies, and operational standards are consistently followed.
• Take ownership of store issues and work with Management to implement appropriate solutions.

Customer Experience

• Lead the team in delivering professional, friendly, and consistent customer service.
• Ensure team members have sufficient product knowledge to confidently recommend suitable products.
• Assist customers with enquiries relating to bakery ingredients, food packaging, baking tools, kitchen essentials, and related products.
• Handle customer feedback, enquiries, and complaints professionally.
• Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction and service quality.

Team Leadership & People Management

• Lead, coach, motivate, and develop the retail team.
• Prepare staff duty rosters and ensure sufficient manpower coverage.
• Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and leave applications.
• Conduct on-the-job training covering product knowledge, customer service, sales techniques, and store procedures.
• Monitor individual and team performance and provide coaching where necessary.
• Delegate daily tasks effectively and ensure responsibilities are completed on time.
• Maintain a positive, disciplined, collaborative, and performance-driven working environment.
• Lead by example and demonstrate strong work ethics and professionalism.

Inventory & Stock Control

• Monitor stock levels and coordinate stock ordering and replenishment.
• Ensure sufficient availability of fast-moving and key products.
• Oversee stock receiving, checking, transfers, replenishment, and stock counts.
• Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate stock discrepancies.
• Ensure proper FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation.
• Monitor product quality, expiry dates, damaged goods, and wastage.
• Take appropriate measures to minimise stock losses and shrinkage.
• Ensure products are correctly priced, labelled, well-stocked, and attractively displayed.

Merchandising & Store Presentation

• Ensure product displays are neat, attractive, organised, and aligned with company standards.
• Ensure promotional and festive displays are properly executed.
• Monitor pricing, shelf labels, promotional materials, and product presentation.
• Work with Management to implement new product launches and merchandising initiatives.

Cash Handling & Administration

• Oversee cashier operations and ensure accurate handling of cash and cashless transactions.
• Monitor daily cash counting and reconciliation procedures.
• Review sales reports and identify discrepancies or irregularities.
• Maintain accurate sales, inventory, staff, and operational records.
• Ensure proper filing and handling of store documentation.
• Follow company internal control procedures and cash-handling policies.

Store Standards, Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a clean, organised, safe, and welcoming store environment.
• Ensure the team follows food handling, hygiene, workplace safety, and operational requirements.
• Conduct regular checks on store cleanliness, product displays, pricing, stock condition, and overall store standards.
• Ensure equipment, fixtures, and store facilities are properly maintained.
• Report operational, maintenance, safety, or security issues to Management promptly.
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are consistently implemented.

Communication & Reporting

• Provide regular updates to Management on store performance, sales, staffing, inventory, customer feedback, and operational issues.
• Prepare or assist with daily, weekly, and monthly store reports.
• Communicate new products, promotions, policies, and operational changes clearly to the team.
• Work closely with Management and other departments to ensure smooth store operations.

Requirements

• Diploma or higher qualification in any discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in retail operations, retail supervision, store management, or a similar customer-facing leadership role.
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused with a positive, proactive, responsible, and hands-on attitude.
• Confident in leading, coaching, motivating, and developing a retail team.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of daily store operations.
• Good understanding of retail sales, merchandising, inventory, and customer service.
• Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Comfortable using basic computer applications and POS systems.
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions when required.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Experience in retail, supermarket, bakery supply, FMCG, hospitality, aviation, hotel operations, or F&B will be an added advantage.
