Permanent Senior / Speech Therapist (Full Time & Part Time)

Role Overview

As a Speech Therapist, you will deliver essential speech, language, and dysphagia management services to individuals across diverse community care environments, including nursing facilities, day rehabilitation centers, and home care settings. Your core objective will be to restore functional communication, ensure safe swallowing practices, and improve overall client independence through personalized interventions and active caregiver engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate clients presenting with swallowing impairments or communication conditions (e.g., aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia) typically associated with stroke, neurodegenerative disorders, or dementia.
• Design and deliver outcome-driven, client-centered care plans tailored to individual daily needs and supporting caregiver capacity.
• Conduct bedside swallow evaluations, formulate safe feeding protocols, and specify necessary dietary modifications (liquid consistencies and food textures) to mitigate aspiration risks.
• Educate family members, domestic helpers, and care partners on targeted communication strategies and safe mealtime management techniques.
• Coordinate with physicians, nursing teams, and allied health peers to deliver integrated, holistic client care.
• Ensure accurate, prompt documentation for progress tracking, functional status updates, and regulatory or funding requirements.
• Create training modules, resources, and learning sessions to upskill therapy colleagues, support staff, and care partners.
• Participate in service improvement initiatives, quality assurance projects, and practice-based clinical research.

Requirements

• Possess a recognized Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy or Speech-Language Pathology.
• Full Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
• Solid clinical grounding in adult dysphagia management and acquired neurogenic communication disorders.
• Highly empathetic, patient, adaptable, and resourceful when solving clinical challenges.
• Proven ability to work autonomously across varied home environments and community setting layouts.

Preferred Attributes

• Flexibility and willingness to travel to various center locations for work.
• Comfortable operating effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
