Position Summary
The Lecturer (Chemistry & Biology) is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in both Chemistry and Biology at Foundation level. The role includes the preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, assessments, and related learning activities.
The Lecturer will also teach selected common/core courses as assigned by the department, contribute to student engagement activities including Open Days and outreach events, and support departmental academic and administrative initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Teach both Chemistry and Biology courses at Foundation level.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assessments, laboratory activities, and learning activities aligned with programme learning outcomes.
- Conduct lectures, tutorials, and practical/laboratory sessions using appropriate and engaging teaching and learning strategies.
- Develop and deliver laboratory and practical activities that support students’ understanding of Chemistry and Biology concepts.
- Ensure practical and laboratory activities are conducted safely and effectively in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Teach selected common/core courses as assigned by the department.
- Assess and evaluate students’ academic performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
- Support students’ academic development through consultation hours and academic advising when required.
Academic & Programme Support
- Participate in curriculum development, review, and continuous improvement of Chemistry and Biology courses.
- Contribute to the development and review of laboratory activities, practical assessments, teaching materials, and other academic resources.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality assurance processes, academic policies, and accreditation requirements.
- Contribute to moderation, examination setting, marking, and other related academic duties.
- Participate in course and programme review activities as required.
- Engage in scholarly, professional, or teaching-related development activities relevant to the role.
Student Engagement & Outreach
- Assist in Open Days, education fairs, school visits, and other student recruitment or promotional activities.
- Provide accurate, clear, and professional information to prospective students and parents regarding programmes and academic pathways.
- Support student-related activities and events organised by the department when required.
- Participate in activities that promote student engagement and the Foundation programme.
Administrative & Team Responsibilities
- Attend departmental meetings, briefings, academic training sessions, and other relevant meetings.
- Carry out administrative duties related to teaching, assessment, laboratory activities, and programme delivery.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support departmental objectives and initiatives.
- Contribute to departmental projects and activities when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department, Deputy Head of Department, or Programme Leader.
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential
- A Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Science Education, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to teach both Chemistry and Biology at Foundation, pre-university, matriculation, or tertiary level.
- Strong subject knowledge in both Chemistry and Biology.
- Ability to develop and deliver lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and assessments for both Chemistry and Biology.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student-centred teaching and academic excellence.
- Knowledge of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles.
Preferred
- Prior 2 to 4 years of teaching experience at Foundation, pre-university, matriculation, or tertiary level.
- Experience conducting Chemistry and Biology laboratory or practical sessions.
- Familiarity with blended learning, learning management systems, and digital teaching tools.
- Relevant industry, research, or professional experience in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- Experience in curriculum development or course review.
- Experience in student recruitment activities, Open Days, education fairs, or outreach programmes.

Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
