Job Description

Responsibilities

At Aleph, we design human experiences by asking the right questions. Here, you’d find a curious breed of creative engineers spread across the globe, specializing in craft, strategy, and technology. With a keen ear to the ground, we turn big dreams into user-first digital solutions by design. Through rigorous prototyping, close collaboration, and responsive engineering, we commit to creating a future that leaves our craft, community, and clients better than before we began.

We are looking for an Optimisation Specialist who can go beyond execution and take ownership of how our clients get found, get chosen, and get measured — across organic search, generative engines, social, and the analytics layer that ties them together.

You'd be working on the Japan market for a global consumer brand, optimising performance across their social presence and digital assets, websites included. It's a high-volume, high-visibility environment where the work is judged on whether the numbers move.

Discovery no longer starts and ends on a results page. People find brands through Google, through AI assistants that answer instead of link, through social feeds that behave like search engines, and through paid placements competing for the same attention. This role owns that whole picture: setting the optimisation strategy, implementing it inside real digital ecosystems (CMS, CRM, GA4, analytics and targeting platforms, and the wider MarTech stack), and proving what moved with data.

Key Responsibilities

- Data, analytics & performance measurement

  • Own the performance reporting layer end-to-end: define KPIs, build dashboards, and turn tracking data into decisions rather than screenshots.
  • Design and QA measurement implementation — GA4, GTM, server-side tagging, event schemas, conversion definitions, UTM governance, and consent-compliant tracking.
  • Run analysis that answers commercial questions: channel contribution, funnel drop-off, cohort and retention behaviour, incrementality, and attribution across paid, organic, social, and CRM.
  • Design and run experiments — A/B and multivariate tests, landing page and CRO, Optimizely or equivalent — with clean hypotheses, sound sample sizing, and honest reads on significance.
  • Produce clear narrative reporting for client and internal stakeholders: what happened, why, what we're doing about it, what we need from them.

- Social & content performance

  • Analyse social content performance across platforms and translate it into direction: what formats, hooks, and topics earn reach, engagement, and conversion.
  • Optimise for social and video search behaviour (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X, LinkedIn) as a genuine discovery channel, not an afterthought.
  • Work with content and creative teams on briefs grounded in demand data, search intent, and what the AI answer layer is actually citing.
  • Track social listening and brand mention signals where they affect authority, sentiment, and generative visibility.

- Platform, collaboration & craft

  • Platform, collaboration & craft
  • Work within enterprise digital ecosystems — content management systems, targeting tools, CRM and MarTech platforms (e.g. Insider, Braze, Adobe Journey Optimizer), and AI-powered search and site search experiences.
  • Leverage AI tooling for content optimisation, analysis, automation, and workflow efficiency — and know where it should not be trusted.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across MarTech, content, analytics, CRM, design, and engineering, translating between them.
  • Adapt strategies to the Japanese market — culturally relevant optimisation, local search and social behaviour, and local platform norms.
  • Collaborate with Japan-based stakeholders, developers, and marketing teams to ensure smooth implementation and reporting.
  • Stay ahead of algorithm changes, evolving search and discovery behaviour, and shifts in the AI answer ecosystem — and bring the team with you.

- Organic search & GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation)

  • Develop and execute end-to-end SEO strategies for organic growth, discoverability, and user engagement.
  • Own GEO as a discipline: optimise for citation and inclusion in AI-generated answers across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and AI Overviews — entity coverage, structured data, source authority, content chunking, and retrievability.
  • Build and maintain the measurement approach for generative search, where classic rank tracking doesn't apply — share of answer, citation frequency, prompt-level visibility, and referral quality from AI surfaces.
  • Manage SEO transitions & migrations, ensuring seamless setup and optimisation for new and existing platforms.
  • Optimise around entities and topics rather than keywords alone, including E-E-A-T signals and Knowledge Graph presence.

Prerequisites

  • 5–10 years optimising digital performance across some mix of organic search, analytics, social, and content. Real depth in two or three of these matters more to us than surface coverage of allof them.
  • Hands-on with analytics tools — GA4 and GTM in particular — and able to build a dashboard, read it properly, and turn it into a recommendation someone can act on.
  • A solid technical SEO foundation and genuine engagement with AI search. Structured data, indexation, site performance and semantic/entity thinking on the SEO side; on GEO, we're less interested in years of experience (almost nobody has them) than in evidence you've been experimenting and forming a view.
  • Experience analysing social and content performance and turning it into direction for creative and editorial teams.
  • Clear communication and comfort working across functions — developers, UX, content, and marketing — including with stakeholders in another market and another language.

Good to have

  • Fluency in Japanese, as this role involves collaboration with Japan-based teams and projects.
  • Experience with Japan market SEO, including local search behaviours, platforms, and compliance with Japanese digital regulations.
  • Experimentation and CRO experience — running tests, reading results properly, and knowing when a result isn't one.
  • SQL, or Python/R for analysis, and experience working with data at scale.
  • Exposure to paid media measurement, CDP , marketing automation, or CRM-driven personalisation.
  • Experience with enterprise SEO and content platforms (Adobe Experience Manager, Google Search Console, Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Botify or similar).
  • Understanding of privacy and consent frameworks (GDPR, PDPA, APPI) and their effect on measurement.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary (compensation will be based on experience)
  • Medical insurance
  • Yearly reward based on performance
  • A solid team behind you: great people who love what they do
  • A fun and a fast paced culture which promotes learning and knowledge sharing
  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth offerings
