Responsibilities

Cana Consulting is partnering with a leading international law firm, is looking to hire a Compliance Officer to join its Business Acceptance team in Singapore.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their career within business acceptance, conflicts and financial crime compliance in an international law firm environment. The team is particularly interested in individuals who are hungry to learn, proactive and willing to take ownership, and can consider candidates with relevant transferable experience.


Role

Working as part of a global Business Acceptance function, you will support lawyers and business teams across areas including conflicts, client and matter acceptance, AML/KYC and sanctions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Process and review conflict search requests and identify potential conflicts of interest.
  • Analyse conflict results and assist with resolving or escalating potential issues.
  • Manage new client and new matter opening requests.
  • Conduct research and due diligence on prospective clients, including corporate ownership and background checks.
  • Advise on client due diligence (CDD) requirements and assist lawyers in obtaining the necessary information and documentation.
  • Support ongoing monitoring and review of existing clients.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of information barriers.
  • Conduct sanctions screening and assist with sanctions-related enquiries.
  • Respond to queries from lawyers and other stakeholders relating to business acceptance, compliance and risk matters.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the firm's international offices and other business support functions.


Candidate Profile

We are interested in speaking with candidates who possess:

  • Relevant experience within business acceptance, conflicts, AML/KYC, sanctions, compliance or risk.
  • Prior experience within a law firm or professional services environment would be advantageous, although candidates with strong transferable experience can also be considered.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to assess information and identify potential risk issues.
  • Exposure to business acceptance, conflicts or compliance systems would be advantageous.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and confidence engaging with different stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude with a genuine willingness to learn and develop.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative, international team.
