Responsibilities

EHS MANAGER

Key Responsibilities:

  • EHS Management & Compliance: Develop, implement, and monitor project EHS management plans, policies, procedures, and systems in accordance with applicable legislation, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, client requirements, and company standards.
  • Project EHS Leadership: Lead and manage the EHS team across data centre construction projects, providing strategic direction, technical guidance, supervision, and support to ensure effective implementation of EHS initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Oversee HIRARC, risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Method Statements, and Permit to Work (PTW) systems, ensuring appropriate control measures are implemented for all construction and M&E activities.
  • Site Safety Operations: Monitor and enforce EHS compliance across construction sites, including high-risk activities such as electrical installation, lifting operations, working at height, confined space entry, hot works, and testing and commissioning.
  • Environmental Management: Oversee environmental protection programmes, including waste management, pollution prevention, dust and noise control, water management, and compliance with environmental regulations and project requirements.
  • Incident Management: Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental non-compliances, identify root causes, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
  • Subcontractor Management: Establish and monitor EHS requirements for subcontractors, conduct performance reviews, coordinate safety meetings, and ensure compliance with project EHS standards.
  • Audit & Inspection: Plan and lead internal and external EHS audits, site inspections, compliance assessments, and management reviews, ensuring timely closure of non-conformities and improvement actions.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, coordinate emergency drills, and ensure adequate resources and procedures are in place to manage potential emergencies.
  • Training & Safety Culture: Drive EHS awareness, competency development, safety inductions, toolbox talks, training programmes, and engagement initiatives to strengthen safety ownership among employees and subcontractors.
  • Client & Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the key EHS representative in dealings with clients, consultants, authorities, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • EHS Performance & Reporting: Establish EHS KPIs, monitor safety and environmental performance, prepare periodic reports, analyse trends, and present recommendations to project leadership and senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve EHS processes, implement best practices, promote lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage EHS budgets, manpower planning, training resources, equipment, and other operational requirements to support effective EHS implementation.
  • Project Lifecycle Support: Provide EHS leadership throughout design coordination, construction, M&E installation, integrated systems testing, commissioning, and project handover, ensuring safety and environmental risks are effectively managed at every stage.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant working experience in EHS management within the construction industry, preferably in data centre, M&E, or large-scale industrial projects.
  • Must possess a valid Safety and Health Officer (SHO) registration with DOSH (JKKP), where required for the role.
  • Strong knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994), Environmental Quality Act 1974, and other applicable Malaysian statutory requirements.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing EHS management systems in compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Extensive experience in managing EHS operations for large-scale construction projects, including hyperscale data centres and M&E design and build projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety, environmental management, risk assessment, HIRARC, JSA, Method Statements, Permit to Work (PTW), and emergency response planning.
  • Experience managing high-risk construction activities, including electrical installation, lifting operations, working at height, confined space entry, hot works, and commissioning activities.
  • Proven ability to lead EHS teams, manage multiple subcontractors, and ensure compliance with client requirements, project specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Experience in conducting EHS audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, consultants, regulatory authorities, project management teams, and subcontractors.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in EHS performance monitoring, reporting, budgeting, training programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and promote a strong safety culture across project sites and drive effective EHS performance.
  • Willing to be based at the project site and travel as required.

Working Hour

Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5pm

Saturday 8.00am to 12noon (Alternate)

Pay: RM15,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per month
