Youth Community Host, Every Thursday, 5pm–10pm, $20/hour | $100 per Thursday

We’re trying something a little different.

Glyph Community is opening one of our community spaces on Thursday evenings for young people aged 15–21 - a place where they can simply come by after school, poly, ITE, NS or work and hang out. There’ll be board games, a comfortable space, and other young people around. They can talk, play, listen to music, study, chill, make friends - or basically do whatever young people do when adults aren't telling them what they should be doing.

And we're looking for the person who makes that room work.

You don't need to be a teacher, have a social-work degree or run programmes.

We're looking for someone who is:
Energetic and naturally sociable

Comfortable talking to teenagers and young adults

Someone people naturally feel comfortable around

Responsible and dependable

Able to create a relaxed atmosphere without trying too hard

Good at reading a room

Comfortable setting basic boundaries when necessary

And most importantly, someone who genuinely enjoys being around young people

Your job is simple:
Show up every Thursday, be there, talk to people

Play a game if someone asks

Make newcomers feel welcome

Keep the space safe and positive

And let the young people own the room

We don't want someone standing at the front telling everyone what to do

We want someone who can walk into a room full of strangers and somehow, 30 minutes later, everyone feels a little more comfortable.

The Commitment

Every Thursday, 5pm–10pm

This is a regular weekly commitment, not an ad-hoc part-time job.

S$20/hour → S$100 per evening

We are specifically looking for someone who can commit to the same Thursday evening long-term.

Location: TBC

Before we decide

We don't expect a CV to tell us whether you're the right person for this. We'll first have you volunteer with us for one afternoon so you can see how we work and we can see how you interact with young people. If you like the environment, and we think you'd be a great fit, we'd love to have you join us on Thursday evenings.

About Glyph

Glyph Community is a Singapore-registered charity and IPC working with children and families from lower-income and vulnerable households. We've been doing this since 2017, and we're deliberately trying something different for young people aged 15 and up. This isn't about creating another structured youth programme. Sometimes young people just need somewhere to go. Maybe you're the person who can help us create that place.

Glyph Community is a Singapore-registered IPC charity dedicated to supporting children from lower-income or vulnerable households, aged 5 to 12, through holistic weekend enrichment programs. Beyond fostering social, emotional, and intellectual growth through structured activities like arts, STEM, life skills, and wellness initiatives, Glyph Community now also focuses on uplifting the living standards of the families we serve.

Through targeted interventions, such as providing essential household items, furniture, and appliances, we aim to create a stable and nurturing home environment, which is critical to children’s development and well-being. By addressing both educational enrichment and home stability, Glyph Community empowers children to thrive and families to build a foundation for long-term resilience.

Founded in 2017, Glyph Community operates centers in Marsiling and Boon Lay, serving over 2,000 children across Singapore. We are recognized as an Institution of a Public Character (IPC) and a full member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), enabling donors and partners to contribute with confidence. Our integrated approach positions Glyph Community as a pioneering charity bridging educational support with tangible family welfare, making measurable impact on both children’s growth and household well-being.
