Role Purpose

Develop functional, buildable and well-considered space planning solutions that balance client aspirations, architectural design, budget and project requirements. The role requires strong architectural thinking, client consultation skills and proactive design problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop functional and thoughtful space planning based on client requirements, site conditions and project objectives.
• Translate client briefs and lifestyle requirements into practical solutions that balance design, functionality, budget and buildability.
• Think beyond 2D layouts by considering the impact on spatial experience, building form, facade, openings and circulation.
• Visualise design solutions three-dimensionally to support strong integration with subsequent 3D design development.
• Conduct design consultations and confidently guide clients towards practical and informed design decisions.
• Identify when client expectations and budget are not aligned and propose alternative layouts, design approaches or scope solutions.
• Clearly communicate design rationale and trade-offs through professional, solution-based consultation.
• Identify potential design, technical, buildability or cost issues early and proactively propose solutions.
• Coordinate relevant technical, cost and project requirements before design finalisation.
• Take ownership of design work from brief through client approval and handover, ensuring quality, accuracy and timely delivery.
• Prepare clear design intent for subsequent design development and ensure smooth project progression.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• 2-5 years of relevant working experience.
• Strong space planning and architectural design fundamentals.
• Able to visualise the relationship between floor planning, spatial experience, building form and facade.
• Good understanding of buildability and basic cost implications.
• Strong client consultation, presentation and communication skills.
• Confident in managing client expectations and recommending alternative solutions.
• Strong problem-solving, design judgement and attention to detail.
• Proficient in relevant 2D design/drafting software; 3D capability is an advantage.
