Professional Summary
Transaction Monitoring Analyst will support the Company’s financial crime compliance framework by conducting transaction monitoring activities to identify and mitigate potential money laundering, terrorism financing, fraud, sanctions evasion, and other financial crime risks. The role will review alerts, investigate suspicious transaction activity, and provide clear, well-supported recommendations in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Responsibilities
- Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts generated through the Company’s AML/CTF monitoring systems.
- Analyse customer transaction activity, account behaviour, payment patterns, counterparties, and other relevant information to identify unusual or potentially suspicious activity.
- Conduct risk-based investigations and determine whether activity is consistent with the customer’s profile, expected behaviour, and stated business activities.
- Perform internal and external research to obtain additional information required to support investigations and case assessments.
- Document investigation findings, supporting evidence, rationale, and recommendations clearly and accurately within the relevant case management systems.
- Escalate higher-risk or complex cases to the appropriate stakeholders in accordance with established procedures and escalation thresholds.
- Support the identification and filing of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) where required.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, banking partners, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant parties as required during investigations.
- Identify emerging financial crime typologies, trends, and patterns and highlight potential gaps or weaknesses in existing monitoring controls.
- Provide feedback on transaction monitoring rules and scenarios to support the enhancement and effectiveness of the Company’s financial crime controls.
- Maintain a strong understanding of applicable AML/CTF regulations, internal policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Ensure all investigations are completed accurately and within established service-level timelines.
- Perform ad-hoc investigations, reviews, and financial crime-related projects as assigned by the line manager.
What You Will Bring
- Degree qualification or at least 3–5 years of relevant experience in transaction monitoring, AML/CTF, financial crime compliance, fraud investigations, or a related field.
- Proven experience reviewing and investigating transaction monitoring alerts and identifying potentially suspicious activity.
- Good understanding of AML/CTF regulations, financial crime risks, typologies, and risk-based investigation practices.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess complex transaction activity and reach sound, evidence-based conclusions.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple investigations, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with transaction monitoring or case management systems is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in FinTech, banking, payments, or other financial services environments is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and develop new skills in a rapidly evolving financial crime environment.
Pay: RM4,200.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
