Your role
Your role will involve (but is not limited to):
Audit planning and fieldwork
- Assist in planning audit engagements — understanding the client's business, assessing audit risks and preparing audit programmes
- Conduct audit fieldwork at clients' premises and in the office, performing tests of controls and substantive procedures across key areas such as revenue, purchases, receivables, payables, inventory, fixed assets, and cash and bank
- Attend physical stock counts and perform bank, debtor and creditor confirmations
- Prepare clear, well-documented audit working papers in accordance with the firm's methodology and approved standards on auditing
Financial reporting
- Prepare full sets of audited financial statements in compliance with MPERS/MFRS and the Companies Act 2016
- Draft the auditor's report, proposed audit adjustments and management letter points for manager and partner review
- Compute tax provisions and deferred tax for audit clients
Client engagement and delivery
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain information, resolve audit queries and follow up on outstanding items
- Ensure engagements are completed on time and within budget, meeting statutory filing deadlines
- Guide interns or junior associates on assigned engagements where required
Beyond audit
- Assist with accounting, tax computation and company secretarial assignments for clients as required
- Support engagement administration and other ad-hoc tasks as assigned
Candidate requirements
- Experience in audit or any public accounting firm is highly preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, MICPA or equivalent), or currently pursuing one
- Working knowledge of MPERS/MFRS and approved standards on auditing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); exposure to audit or accounting software is an added advantage
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage tight deadlines during peak periods
- Willing to work at our SS15, Subang Jaya office and travel to clients' premises for fieldwork
- Keen to learn, with a positive attitude at work
