Responsible for planning and coordinating material requirements for WD's manufacturing operations under minimal supervision, ensuring optimal inventory levels and efficient material flow to support production schedules with optimal cost.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Material Planning & Execution
- Develop and maintain material requirements plans based on production forecasts, customer orders, and inventory targets with guidance from senior planners.
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent stockouts while optimizing working capital.
- Create and release purchase requisitions according to lead times and production schedules.
- Track material usage trends and collaborate with production & engineering to improve forecast accuracy.
- Generate material requirement forecasts based on production plans.
2. Coordination & Problem Resolution
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely material availability and on-time delivery of materials and components.
- Identify and escalate material shortages for resolution through expediting, substitutions, or production schedule adjustments.
- Participate in supply chain and material planning improvement initiatives.
- Support cost reduction and process improvement efforts through efficient material planning.
3. Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate material master data in enterprise systems.
- Track and report material-related metrics and KPIs.
- Ensure data accuracy in SAP and related planning systems.
4. Collaboration & Compliance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, procurement, finance, development, quality, and logistics teams.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for operational improvements.
- Responsible for ISO, BCMS, SOX & RBA compliance.
- Undertake operational assignments as delegated by senior leadership.
REQUIRED:
- Diploma / Degree qualification, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations or related field.
- 2–3 years of material planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with inventory management and material planning systems.
PREFERRED:
- Exposure to standard materials and components planning.
- Basic understanding of supply chain principles and material flow.
- Familiarity with production scheduling concepts.
