Captain Job Description:

Position: Captain (Restaurant)

Job Summary: A captain in a restaurant is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the dining area and providing a high level of service to guests. They act as a link between the front-of-house staff, the kitchen, and the management team.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Service: Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and seating guests, presenting menus, taking orders, and assisting with any special requests.

Team Coordination: Coordinate the efforts of waitstaff and buspersons, ensuring a well-organized and efficient dining experience for guests.

Order Management: Relay orders accurately to the kitchen and bar, ensuring that food and drinks are prepared and served promptly.

Quality Assurance: Monitor food quality, presentation, and timeliness to ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant's standards.

Problem Resolution: Address guest concerns or complaints in a professional and courteous manner, seeking to resolve issues to the satisfaction of the guest.

Table Maintenance: Oversee table setup, cleanliness, and proper utensil placement. Ensure the dining area is presentable at all times.

Knowledge: Have a strong understanding of the menu, including ingredients and preparation methods, to answer guest questions and make recommendations.

Billing and Payments: Provide guests with accurate bills, process payments, and handle cash and credit card transactions.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a similar role within the restaurant industry is often required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
