A lorry driver's job scope includes safely driving the lorry to transport goods, overseeing the loading and unloading of items, ensuring the cargo is secured and undamaged, and maintaining the vehicle's mechanical and legal roadworthiness. Drivers are also responsible for route planning, complying with traffic regulations, and ensuring timely, punctual deliveries. Key Responsibilities
- Driving & Route Planning:
- Safely operating the lorry to transport goods.
- Planning the most efficient and appropriate routes for deliveries.
- Staying informed about road conditions, closures, and diversions to avoid delays.
- Loading & Unloading:
- Assisting with or supervising the loading and unloading of goods.
- Properly arranging and securing heavy loads within the lorry to prevent damage.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Performing basic vehicle checks to ensure it's mechanically sound and roadworthy.
- Performing minor repairs and maintenance as needed, especially during transit.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Goods & Documentation:
- Verifying the quantity and condition of goods before loading and after unloading.
- Ensuring goods are handled with care to prevent damage during transport.
- Keeping accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and any damage or issues.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhering to all road traffic laws and regulations.
- Ensuring safe transport of goods to their destinations.
- Customer Service & Timeliness:
- Delivering goods on time and in good condition.
- Communicating professionally with clients and warehouse staff.
Those with E Licence(REQUIRED)
