Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Accountant / Accounts Manager to oversee the company’s entire Accounts Department.
The successful candidate must have strong full-set accounting experience, including monthly closing, financial reconciliations, cash-flow management and credit control. This is a supervisory role, but the candidate must also be prepared to handle operational accounting work directly when required.
Key ResponsibilitiesFull-Set Accounting and Financial Closing
- Oversee and maintain the company’s full set of accounts, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger and fixed assets.
- Manage and complete accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end financial closing.
- Prepare monthly Profit and Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, cash-flow reports and management accounts.
- Review general ledger entries, accruals, prepayments and journal entries.
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and properly supported.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies before closing each accounting period.
Reconciliations and Financial Control
- Perform and review monthly bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts.
- Reconcile Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet accounts, including receivables, payables, loans, accruals and intercompany balances.
- Maintain proper accounting controls and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Monitor cash flow and provide regular updates to management.
Accounts Receivable and Credit Control
- Monitor customers’ outstanding balances and ageing reports.
- Issue and reconcile Statements of Account.
- Follow up actively with customers on overdue invoices and outstanding payments.
- Coordinate with the Operations and Commercial teams to resolve billing disputes or documentation issues.
- Escalate long-outstanding accounts and recommend appropriate collection actions.
- Ensure invoices are issued promptly and accurately.
Banking and Financing Facilities
- Monitor and manage the company’s bank overdraft and working-capital requirements.
- Administer invoice-financing facilities, including submissions, drawdowns, repayments and reconciliations.
- Track financing costs, interest charges and facility utilisation.
- Liaise with banks and financial institutions on day-to-day banking and financing matters.
- Maintain sufficient liquidity while managing the company’s financing facilities efficiently.
Accounting Systems and Process Improvement
- Manage accounting operations using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Ensure accounting transactions and supporting documents are correctly entered and maintained in the system.
- Identify opportunities to improve, automate and standardise accounting processes.
- Strengthen internal controls and develop clear accounting workflows and procedures.
- Support the integration of accounting processes with the company’s operational systems.
Team Leadership and Compliance
- Oversee, guide and review the work of the Accounts Department.
- Allocate responsibilities and ensure all accounting deadlines are met.
- Establish clear performance standards and accountability within the team.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, banks and other professional advisers.
- Coordinate annual audits and prepare the necessary schedules and supporting documents.
- Ensure compliance with Singapore accounting standards, GST requirements and applicable statutory regulations.
- Undertake other financial and accounting duties assigned by management.
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CA Singapore or equivalent would be an advantage.
- At least 5 years of relevant full-set accounting experience, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong practical experience in monthly financial closing and preparation of management accounts.
- Sound knowledge of bank, Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
- Experience managing accounts receivable, credit control and collection of overdue accounts.
- Experience handling bank overdrafts, invoice financing or other working-capital facilities.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of Singapore accounting, GST and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience in the shipping, maritime, logistics or service industry would be an advantage.

Pay: $4,000.00 - $6,000.00 per month
