Who This Role Is Best For

You are comfortable working across the frontend and backend, enjoys improving existing products, and can work independently in a remote environment. This role is suited to someone who wants to build practical experience across our stack while helping optimise and maintain product features, allowing our senior engineers to focus on core development.

Responsibilities

• Product Optimisation: Pick up and complete product optimisation tickets from the engineering backlog, including UI fixes, small feature enhancements, API/backend changes, conversion and funnel improvements, and performance or quality cleanup.
• Fullstack Development: Implement changes across the stack, working with React, Next.js, and TypeScript on the frontend, as well as Node.js, APIs, and PHP on the backend.
• A/B Testing & Growth Experiments: Support A/B tests and growth experiments end to end by building variants, making necessary backend changes, setting up tracking, and assisting with the interpretation of results.
• Bug Fixing & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve bugs and product issues reported by Product, Support, or QA, tracing issues across the frontend and backend where necessary.
• Code Quality & Reviews: Write clean, well-structured PRs and respond constructively to code review feedback.
• Product & Design Collaboration: Work closely with Product and Design to understand requirements, translate small briefs into working solutions, and deliver changes with minimal supervision.
• Async-First Teamwork: Work within the engineering team’s normal workflow, including daily standups, async communication, and ticket management through Linear. Ship changes through GitHub PR and review.
• Delivery & Ownership: Take ownership of assigned tickets, seek guidance from senior engineers early when needed, and prioritise delivering practical improvements within the same week rather than allowing small tasks to extend across multiple weeks.

Qualifications and Requirements

This internship is suited for students or recent graduates who want hands-on experience in healthcare, operations, product, or startups.

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent self-taught experience with a strong portfolio/GitHub)
• Based in Malaysia and available for a 3–6 month remote contract.
• Strong fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript and React, with basic backend/API experience using Node.js or similar technologies.
• Comfortable navigating and working within an existing codebase, rather than only building projects from scratch.
• Has shipped a real project, whether through freelance work, an internship, open-source contributions, or personal development.
• Clear written communication skills, with the ability to explain bugs, changes, and blockers without unnecessary back-and-forth.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted “vibe coding” tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code to accelerate development and ship features efficiently.
• Nice to have: Experience with Next.js and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, familiarity with Git workflows and PR-based collaboration, and an interest in healthcare, telehealth, or consumer products.
