Role:

We are seeking a compassionate, culturally responsive, and dynamic High School Social-Emotional Counsellor to support our students in Grades 9-12.

In this role, you will be a vital pillar of our holistic student well-being team. High school is a transformative stage marked by identity exploration, cross-cultural transitions, academic pressures, and social dynamics. You will provide a safe space and proactive tools to help our diverse adolescent population build resilience, navigate challenges, and thrive.

Responsibilities:

• Direct Support: Provide individual and (potentially) short-term group counselling to high school students addressing social, emotional, and developmental needs.
• Culturally Responsive Care: Offer informed, inclusive guidance that honours our students’ multi-faceted cultural backgrounds, third-culture kid (TCK) experiences, and diverse identities.
• Proactive Programming: Design and facilitate socio-emotional learning (SEL) workshops on topics such as stress management, conflict resolution, healthy relationships, and global transitions.
• Crisis Intervention & Support: Serve as a core responder during mental health crises and critical incidents, utilizing restorative practices.
• Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with high school leadership, teachers, learning support staff, and parents to foster a cohesive safety net for every student.
• External Coordination: Connect families with external mental health specialists and community resources when long-term care is required.
• Safeguarding and Child Protection: Act as a key member of the school's Safeguarding Team; identify, document, and report child protection concerns in strict accordance with school policies and international safeguarding standards.

Position requirements:

• Qualifications: Master's degree in School Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, with valid licensure/certification
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of counselling experience in a secondary school setting (Grades 9–12). International school experience is highly valued.
• Cultural Competency: Proven capability in supporting culturally diverse populations and a deep understanding of adolescent mental health through an equity-focused lens.
• Skills: Strong crisis management abilities, exceptional active listening skills, and fluency in English (proficiency in additional languages is a major advantage).
