A leading international commodities trading and energy merchant is looking to appoint a Market Risk Analyst to join its Singapore team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with front office trading desks in a fast-paced, global environment covering physical and derivative commodity markets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyse market risk exposures across commodity trading portfolios.
• Produce daily risk reports including VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis, and position monitoring.
• Partner with traders, risk managers, and other stakeholders to identify, assess, and challenge risk exposures.
• Ensure compliance with risk limits, policies, and governance frameworks.
• Investigate and explain P&L movements and risk drivers.
• Support the enhancement of risk methodologies, models, and reporting tools.
• Contribute to the development of risk controls and process improvements.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Experience in market risk, risk analytics, quantitative risk, or product control within commodities, energy trading, investment banking, or financial markets.
• Strong understanding of market risk concepts including VaR, stress testing, sensitivities, and position risk.
• Knowledge of commodity markets, derivatives, futures, options, and OTC products is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
• Experience with Python, VBA, SQL, or data visualisation tools would be beneficial.
• Ability to communicate effectively with traders and senior stakeholders.
