Role Overview

We are seeking a Chartering Executive to support the sourcing, evaluation and chartering of dry bulk vessels. The successful candidate will conduct voyage calculations, negotiate fixtures and coordinate with brokers, vessel owners, customers and operations teams to meet cargo requirements within agreed cost and delivery targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate suitable dry bulk vessels through brokers and vessel owners.

• Prepare voyage estimates, freight calculations and vessel-costing reports.

• Negotiate freight rates, Charter Party terms and other commercial conditions.

• Monitor vessel positions, cargo opportunities and dry bulk market developments.

• Prepare vessel nominations for long-term tonnage and Contracts of Affreightment.

• Conduct initial counterparty and credit assessments for potential fixtures.

• Maintain and update shipping schedules according to cargo requirements and vessel availability.

• Assess the commercial feasibility of vessel rerouting, deviation and backhaul opportunities.

• Prepare Charter Parties and fixture documentation when required.

• Coordinate with vessel operations on stowage, loading, routing and discharge requirements.

• Monitor voyage performance against approved estimates.

• Maintain freight-market indices and prepare regular market reports for management.

• Develop relationships with shipowners, brokers, charterers and cargo interests.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Business or a related discipline.

• 3 to 5 years of experience in dry bulk chartering, shipbroking or commercial vessel operations.

• Good knowledge of Charter Party terms, voyage calculations and dry bulk markets.

• Experience with bulk commodities such as iron ore, coal, grain or fertilisers would be advantageous.

• Strong commercial awareness, numerical ability and negotiation skills.

• Established relationships within the dry bulk market would be beneficial.

• Able to respond quickly to changing market conditions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
