Brew Crew Opportunity

Our Global Brew Crew is seeking a Head of Quality Assurance, Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance to Lead and govern all aspects of Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Food Safety, Hygiene, Halal compliance, laboratory testing, and regulatory compliance across the organization.


The position requires a hands-on yet strategic leader who can balance strict regulatory compliance with brand integrity and commercial business growth.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:


Quality Strategy & Governance

  • Define and implement an enterprise-wide Quality & Food Safety strategy
  • Establish governance frameworks aligned with: HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000, BRC (if applicable)
  • Lead QMS (Quality Management System) design, deployment, and continuous improvement


Local & International Regulatory Compliance and Audit

  • Act as the primary liaison with local and international regulatory bodies (e.g., MOH) and ensure 100% audit readiness for ISO, FSSC, and BRC standards.
  • Lead audits of regional and international suppliers to ensure compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and Malaysian import criteria.
  • Maintain absolute compliance with the Malaysian Food Act 1983 and the Food Regulations 1985 (including amendments). Monitor international standards like the Codex Alimentarius to anticipate regulatory shifts that impact imports.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Ministry of Health (MOH / KKM), local municipal councils (for business licensing), and international regulatory visitors.


Halal Assurance:

  • Maintain the Halal Assurance System (HAS) and ensure strict compliance with JAKIM and international Halal standards.
  • Ensure compliance across the supply chain and oversee certification renewals.


QC & Lab Operations

  • Supervise and drive the daily testing incoming/finished goods testing (microbiological, chemical, physical) and approve product releases.


Risk & Crisis Management

  • Lead investigations into quality incidents and non-conformances.
  • Manage (Corrective & Preventive Action) CAPA processes, product recalls, contamination issues, and regulatory escalations.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive operational excellence, analyze quality trends, and reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) using Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Own the Food Safety Management System (FSMS), drive HACCP implementation, and lead recall/traceability readiness.
  • Update, roll out, and enforce QA/QC standard operating procedures (SOPs) and food safety policies and procedures to match changing Malaysian and global regulations.


People & Culture

  • Lead competency development, training, and succession planning within the QA function.
  • Partner across departments e.g. Operations, Supply Chain and Marketing to balance quality standards with business objectives.
  • Foster a strong food safety culture across the organization


Your Ingredients

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Food Safety.
  • At least 5 to 8 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, or F&B industries.
  • Exposure to multi-site operations and international regulatory environments.
  • Professional certifications in HACCP, ISO/FSSC Lead Auditor, Halal Assurance, and Lean Six Sigma are advantageous.
