Role Overview

We are seeking a Junior Interior Designer to join our design team and support the development of interior design projects from concept through to completion within a Design & Build environment.

You will assist in developing creative and practical design solutions that meet client requirements, project budgets and timelines. Working closely with the design and project teams, you will be involved in preparing design concepts, drawings, presentations and other project documentation.

The role also provides hands-on exposure to the project process, including design development, material selection, coordination with consultants and contractors, and site visits. You will work as part of a collaborative team to ensure the design intent is properly communicated and carried through to site execution.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing interior design concepts and preparing basic layouts, sketches and design details under the guidance of Senior Designers or the Design Lead, using AutoCAD and SketchUp.

Prepare basic 3D models, visualisations, mood boards and presentation materials to support design development and client presentations.

Research and source suitable design references, materials, finishes and furnishings in accordance with the design intent, project requirements and budget.

Assist with site visits, measurements, site analysis and inventory assessments, and accurately record relevant site information and existing conditions.

Assist in preparing and maintaining design documentation, including drawings, specifications, material references and technical information.

Assist in preparing Tender and Construction Drawing packages, ensuring drawings and documentation are accurate, complete and consistent with the approved design.

Prepare sample boards, material selections and sign-off drawings for review and approval by the Senior Designer or Design Lead.

Provide design drawings, material selections, design details and other relevant information required by the QS and Project Team for costing, tendering and construction purposes.

Assist in reviewing shop drawings, material samples and construction details against the approved design intent, and highlight any discrepancies to the Senior Designer, Design Lead or relevant Project Team member.

Work closely with the Design Team, QS and Project Team to ensure design information is communicated clearly and accurately and support design-related matters throughout the project lifecycle.
