About the role

seeking an experienced Operating Theatre Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team in Damansara, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality surgical care. As an Operating Theatre Nurse, you will be at the heart of our surgical operations, supporting surgical teams and providing essential perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing procedures. This role is vital to maintaining our commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining sterile surgical environments and ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilised and organised

• Assisting surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials in a timely manner

• Monitoring patient vital signs and general condition throughout surgical procedures and reporting any concerns to the surgical team

• Ensuring accurate swab, instrument and needle counts before, during and after each procedure to prevent retained foreign bodies

• Maintaining meticulous records of surgical procedures, including details of instruments used, specimens collected and any incidents or complications

• Providing compassionate pre- and post-operative care to patients, including assessment, preparation and recovery support

• Communicating effectively with patients and their families to provide reassurance and emotional support

• Adhering strictly to infection control protocols, health and safety regulations and aseptic techniques

• Collaborating with other theatre staff and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth surgical operations

• Contributing to the continuous improvement of theatre practices and participating in relevant training and professional development activities

What we're looking for

• Current registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body in Malaysia or equivalent professional qualification

• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience working in an operating theatre or perioperative nursing environment

• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, sterilisation processes and infection control protocols

• Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse surgical teams and support patients

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency in English language, both written and spoken

• Up-to-date knowledge of current surgical practices and commitment to maintaining professional standards

• Valid healthcare certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) are advantageous
