Job Title: Manager / Assistant Manager, Public Relations & Corporate Communications
Reporting To: Vice Chancellor / Managing Director
Job Summary
Act as the strategic right-hand partner to the Vice Chancellor / Managing Director, leading the University's public relations and corporate communications initiatives.
This high-visibility role focuses on crafting executive narratives, managing high-stakes media relations, and driving impactful press conferences to enhance brand visibility and safeguard the University’s institutional reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive Advisory & Speechwriting: Serve as the core communication partner to leadership; draft high-level press releases, executive speeches, media statements, and official correspondence for the Vice Chancellor / Managing Director.
- Media & Press Relations: Plan, coordinate, and spearhead press conferences, media briefings, journalist engagement programs, and high-profile publicity events.
- Strategy Execution: Develop and implement proactive public relations and corporate communication strategies aligned with the University’s overarching strategic milestones.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain trusted relationships with editors, journalists, government agencies, industry partners, and institutional stakeholders.
- Crisis & Reputation Management: Actively monitor media coverage and lead crisis communication strategies to protect and uphold the University's brand equity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Marketing team on integrated branding campaigns, and oversee the execution of corporate ceremonies, launches, and major institutional events.
- Team Leadership: Mentor, manage, and scale the internal Public Relations team while managing PR budgets, vendors, and agency partnerships.
Requirements & Preferred Profiles
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of strategic experience in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or Media Relations.
- Target Backgrounds:
- Higher Education Professionals: Candidates with prior experience in a university or academic institution are highly preferred.
- Agency Climbers: Experienced PR Agency Seniors or Account Managers looking to step into a definitive corporate leadership role are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Corporate Steppers: Ambitious internal PR Assistant Managers or Managers ready to pivot into higher education and work alongside top-tier executive leadership.
- Core Competencies: Proven track record of independently managing press conferences, securing top-tier media placements, and handling sensitive reputation management.
- Skills: Exceptional written and verbal presentation skills, strong project management capabilities, and an active network within local media and government agencies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM9,000.00 per month
